Department of Chemistry
History
The Department was established in 1957. The former Head of the Department was Prof. Dr. K.G.Naik, who was very well known as Father of Sulphur because of his research involving Sulphur containing compounds. After that the Department was run by Dr. M. R. Trivedi, Dr. B.G. Naik, Prof. N. J. Desai, Prof. D. L. Lad., Prof. S. P. Desai., Prof. D. C. Shroff, Prof. P . M. Desai, Dr. J.M.Desai, Dr.K.T.Parekh, Dr. K.D.Desai they had laid the sound foundation for the development and expansion of the Department. Dr. B.D.Mistry is currently head of the Department since 2022. The Department is actively engaged in research leading to M.Phil and Ph.D Degree Courses. The present Staff in the Department not only maintains this legacy but tries almost to develop student’s future.
